BDR / SDR Outsourcing

Outbound capacity that works like part of your own team

The BDR and SDR role is not mysterious: research the accounts, reach out, qualify, follow up, and hand a ready meeting to whoever closes. We provide that capacity ready-made, with the scope and channels you define.

  • Roles and responsibilities written before day one
  • The channels used are set with your approval
  • The meeting is handed over with a written brief for whoever closes
Overview

Why building an in-house BDR team often fails

The job is hard and turnover in it is high worldwide. A prospecting rep hears rejection dozens of times a day and needs constant supervision, training and motivation. A company that builds a three-rep team discovers after six months that it spends more time managing the team than selling.

The second problem is that the role is frequently conflated with closing. The rep is asked to prospect, present, negotiate and close, becomes someone who does everything averagely, and the first thing they drop is prospecting, because it is the hardest and least enjoyable part.

What we do is separate and specialise the role. Our team does not close deals and does not negotiate prices. It has one job: reach the right account for the right reason, qualify it against written rules, and hand it over ready to your closing team.

Role scope: what it covers and what it does not

The most common source of dispute in outsourcing is a vague scope. So we write it down before starting.

Inside the role

  • Account research
  • Outreach and follow-up
  • Qualification against the criteria
  • Booking meetings
  • CRM updates
  • Activity reporting

Outside the role

  • Closing deals
  • Price negotiation
  • Product technical support
  • Collections
  • After-sales service

What you need to provide

  • A clear ideal customer definition
  • Product enablement material
  • Someone to attend the meetings
  • CRM access or a handover channel
How it works

A typical day in the prospecting team

Consistency is what makes the difference in this role, not inspiration.

  1. 01

    Prepare the accounts

Researching the day’s accounts and identifying the decision-maker and the reason to call before picking up the phone.

  2. 02

    Reach out

Running the daily outreach quota through the approved channels, logging the outcome of every attempt.

  3. 03

    Qualify

Asking the agreed qualification questions and documenting what qualifies, what does not, and why.

  4. 04

    Hand over

Booking the meeting, writing the brief, updating the system, then following up until it happens.

Why 4LeadGen

How we manage the role

One role, not five

Our team prospects, qualifies and hands over. It does not close and does not negotiate price, because mixing the roles is what kills prospecting.

Daily supervision

A daily review of activity and call quality, because this role degrades quickly without close supervision.

Continuous training

Objections change with the market, so we refresh the scripts and responses monthly rather than fixing them once.

Backup cover

A rep’s leave or illness does not stop your campaign, because someone who knows the account covers for them.

Written channel limits

We do not use a channel you have not approved, and we do not exceed the agreed number of attempts. Your reputation is not a bargaining chip.

Activity transparency

Every attempt is logged with its outcome. You can review the record whenever you like without waiting for a monthly report.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a BDR and an SDR?

The two titles are used largely interchangeably in the market. The common convention is that a BDR focuses on outbound prospecting (reaching accounts that have not contacted you) while an SDR focuses on qualifying inbound enquiries. We define which model you need with you before starting rather than assuming.

Does the team use our company name or yours?

Whichever you prefer, and it is set out in the agreement. Most clients prefer the team to identify under their own company name because it makes the handover to the closing team feel natural, while some prefer identification as a business development partner.

How many reps do we need?

It depends on the size of the target market and how many meetings your closing team can genuinely absorb. There is no point generating forty meetings a month for a team that can attend fifteen. We work that out with you before setting the size.

How long is onboarding before the first call?

Usually one to two weeks: training on your product, building the first account list, writing the scripts and qualification rules, and connecting the systems. We prefer not to rush this stage because it determines the quality of everything after it.

Can we start with a single rep?

We do not recommend it. A single rep means the campaign stops during any leave or illness, and gives no performance comparison to tell whether a problem lies with the message or the person. In practice we start at three seats.
